Equipping a new generation of researchers to conduct impactful research

The Mapping Stories Global Research (MSGR) Lab provides the tools for researchers and students to collect data using qualitative and quantitative methods to create dynamic and interactive stories of individuals and families impacted by global adversity.

Designed as a hybrid mobile/stationary lab, the MSGR lab includes specialized equipment, spaces, and portable technology. This flexibility allows researchers to bring the lab to the field, capturing rich, hard-to-access data, and to share findings widely.

Projects supported by the MSGR Lab explore the many layers of human experiences by collecting multi-media data such as narrative, maps, audio, video, and photos. Findings from these diverse methods will be used to tell stories that immerse readers in the lives and everyday experiences of research participants. By documenting and making meaning of these stories, the MSGR Lab enhances research projects that generate knowledge, promote tangible outputs, and motivate action to enhance the wellbeing of global populations who face extreme adversity.
